Dr. Frieden is the director of Pediatric Dermatology at UCSF Children's Hospital and in the Department of Dermatology. She is a world-renowned specialist in children's skin diseases. She has more than 20 years experience in the management of a variety of dermatologic conditions including birthmarks, hemangiomas, laser surgery of port-wine stains, and in caring for children with common conditions such as eczema and other rashes. She is the founder and serves as director of the multi-disciplinary Vascular Anomalies Clinic at UCSF which has been serving patients since 1991. She is the founder of the Hemangioma Investigator Group, a multicenter group with the goal of performing research on Infantile hemangiomas.

Dr. Frieden is an Editor-in-Chief of the journal, and co-editor of Neonatal Dermatology the 2nd edition of which will be published in 2008.
