Dr. Shinkai has an active clinical practice in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.She serves as an attending physician of the Dermatology Consultation Service at UCSF Moffitt-Long Hospital, where she brings her expertise in dermatology to the multidisciplinary treatment of hospitalized, systemically ill patients. In her outpatient clinic, she sees patients with all types of skin disease with a specialty in complex medical dermatology, neutrophilic dermatoses, inflammatory skin diseases, and acne. She is also the medical dermatologist for the UCSF multidisciplinary specialty clinic for the evaluation and treatment of women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Dr. Shinkai has a strong commitment to medical education, and serves as the director of the medical student dermatology elective and as associate dermatology residency program director at UCSF.
