Insurance and Billing

UCSF Dermatology accepts a large variety of health insurance plans.  Appropriate referrals and authorization may be required by your insurance company, medical group, or primary care provider for your visit to UCSF Dermatology.

If you have health insurance and any required referrals are in place, our billing office will first bill your insurance carrier. If your insurance plan doesn't cover a service or procedure or doesn't cover the entire cost, you will be responsible for the copayments, deductibles, or fees that are not covered.  Payment for cosmetic services is required at the time of service.

Please bring photo ID, a copy of your insurance card, and any insurance authorizations with you to your appointment.

If you don't have health insurance or are seeking care that is not covered by your insurance plan, you are considered a self-pay patient. All self-pay patients at UCSF are eligible for a discount.
